To Trick Or Treat With Demons

So, of all the things I was expecting it wasn't this. :P I thought this year's story was going to be from HoaTN or something. (Also I like that we got a "I didn't get to do much this year because reasons" and then got a 44 page story and art and stuff lol)

I don't know if it's just because I was in the mood for the season or whatever but I really liked this. If this is what the whole book is going to be like I'm pretty excited. It has a lighter feel to it, almost more like TDS kinda? Like Anastasia's family seeming goofy and fun despite being powerful witches, except for her sister who's really popular and intimidating or something and who scares an actual demon? lol. Though if my best friend's sister had powers that made tarantulas randomly show up in the bathroom I'd be pretty scared of her too. Also what IS her mom's familiar even, it sounds so cool. Plus the magic that goes into trick or treating and how they took it from humans but misunderstood or something and tried to make the trick or treating process itself scary and dangerous. Also, I need to know more about her grandma and why she likes knives so much, and why everyone is apparently completely ok with this rofl.

I also learned that selenophobia is a real thing, I feel like we get one free Yearly Weird Fact as part of these stories, last year it was what is an OBT. :P I mean if the goal of this story was to get me more excited for the book, mission accomplished, I liked this a lot.

Omg me too on all of it. I REALLY like the vibe I'm getting and I'm hope I'm right, where you've got this girl who lives with this family that's really bizarre but she grew up with it so her reaction is very "meh" to everything. Like an actual explosion went off in the house and she and her mom didn't even stop their conversation for a second LOL. And her friend sees her grandma walk past the window outside dressed as a ghost and screaming and he's just like "man your family is weird." That kinda stuff is my jam.

I know there's the selenophobia thing but also ok I admit I had to look up what a gorgon was and I'm a little bit ashamed but ALSO as soon as I saw the pictures I got excited?? We've got demons and satyrs and gorgons and witches and shit, this is gonna be awesome LOL. Demons also sound super cool, with their mind control power, it's even called Sovereignty like how cool is that. Also, old lady anglerfish ghosts! And yeetable zombies! I also like that Laurent multiple times was like "I'm not throwing zombies" and the instant Anastasia is in danger he throws not one but multiple zombies.

I wanted to see her sister and I'm sad we didn't but there's always the book! Which still has no release date though UGHHH do not make me wait until October of next year.

Yeah I'm so down for this. The art is REALLY pretty and I'm sad she didn't show up in the short story, but I'm also looking forward to something that's got an actual witchy vibe. There were a lot of ideas in the story but I like all of what I'm seeing so far.

This is why pretty much, it reminds me of something and I don't know what but I like it. If this is what the book is like I'm pretty sure I'll like it. I like that it seems pretty light and funny? I always like that.

The question is though, what is the inevitable B plot that's going to take us by surprise and fuck with us emotionally. :P

If I had to take a guess, I would guess it's about the main character maybe struggling with feelings about being the only human in her school. I'm just basing this off the description of the book, she's the only human in her school and the main plot seems to be traveling to the human world. There's a lot that could be done there. But I could also be completely off base. TDS caught me off guard a few times.

Either way this looks like it's going to be a lot of fun. I enjoyed the short story a lot and I'm already interested in learning more about the mythology behind all the different kinds of characters there are and how it all works. I also like the witchy feel to it as opposed to a more general and vague kind of magic. I'm excited to see where this ends up. :)
